Sylvia Stevens Ceramic work is inspired by birds, wildlife and the natural world, following travels through Southern Africa where she became fascinated by the sculptural forms, patterns and movement found in nature.

Working primarily in stoneware and porcelain, she creates hand-crafted ceramic sculptures and tiles that combine bold form with delicate surface detail. Her work balances simplicity, character and quiet elegance.

All pieces were hand-crafted and kiln fired in Sylvia’s South East London studio.

Alongside her ceramics practice, Sylvia worked as both a graphic designer and art teacher, later gaining a Postgraduate Diploma in Ceramics from Goldsmiths, University of London. She regularly exhibited with the group Clay for Today and undertook a range of commissions including awards, sculptural pieces and ceramic tile designs.

This website celebrates a distinctive body of work created over many years — a personal collection shaped by observation, craftsmanship and a deep appreciation of nature.
